Frida

Mainly known as a member of ABBA, Frida also enjoyed a successful solo career on Polar. Famously, she recorded the original Swedish version of ABBA’s Fernando for her 1975 album Frida ensam (“Frida alone”), which spent six weeks at number one in Sweden.

Towards the end of the ABBA era, Frida released her first English-language solo album, Something’s Going On, produced by Phil Collins, who’d recently achieved a breakthrough as a solo artist with his cutting-edge hit In The Air Tonight. The 1982 album was a success, selling around two million copies, and spawning a global hit with I Know There’s Something Going On. Frida continued her adventurous exploration of 1980s sounds with the 1984 album Shine, produced by Steve Lillywhite, which was also her final album for Polar.
